The Cragwood Country House LGBTQ+ Wedding of Krystan and Abi

Krystan and Abi’s LGBTQ+ autumn wedding took place at Cragwood Country House Hotel beside Windermere in the Lake District. When Krystan first contacted me about their wedding photography I was very excited by their plans for their same sex Micro Wedding, where there would only be female guests in attendance. When it comes to wedding planning I think that it is important that you hold your wedding the way that you want, and I love the variety that offers me as a Lake District Wedding Photographer. Something different is always something special and always a pleasure to be a part of.

On the day I went to find Krystan and Abi in the bridal suite after arriving at Cragwood Country House Hotel. There was time for some photographs of them as they finished getting ready including some wedding details such as their wedding bouquets and their wedding rings. Afterwards I headed out for some venue photographs, which I always call my setup shots as these form a part of the storytelling from a wedding day. I also met up with their guests to say hello and get ready for the wedding ceremony.

I think that it is always quite special to be asked to be the wedding photographer for LGBTQ+ weddings. Love is love and equal marriage for same sex couples is something that I think is quite exciting to be asked to photograph. The Lake District makes the perfect back drop for all wedding celebrations and the diversity and variety that I see in my couples is one of the reason I love being a Lake District Wedding Photographer so much.

Krystan and Abi’s wedding ceremony was full of love and laughter (especially when their wedding rings got mixed up!) and was conducted brilliantly by the two registrars from Cumbria Registration Service. The registrars even joined in with the confetti throwing and after the ceremony we all enjoyed chatting on the lawn at Cragwood Country House Hotel, giving me the opportunity for a mix of candid and some more formal group photographs. Krystan, Abi and myself then went for a walk around the beautiful grounds at Cragwood Country House for their wedding portraits. We eventually ended up at Cragwood’s Boathouse where we got some amazing photos of the happy couple.

I like to refer to my time photographing my newly wed couples as relaxed portraits. This involves a mixture of candid moments as we are walking and chatting, and me giving some gentle direction so that we can get those wow shots. I might make a suggestion here and there or there might be something specific that you would like. Over all I want to make sure that you get some amazing wedding photographs. Definitely more keepers than deleters, and definitely nothing cheesy.

t was my utmost pleasure to be asked by Krystan and Abi to be their Lake District Wedding Photographer for their LGBTQ+ wedding at Cragwood Country House Hotel. I may only have been with them a few short hours on their wedding day but I had a fantastic time and took some truly great wedding photographs for them. It has been very rewarding to watch them grow as a couple through their social media posts too, and I would like to wish them both continued happiness together.
