The Briery Wood Elopement of Jack and Hannah
I’m going to start a new thing. It’s a club. An exclusive club. Membership is strictly limited to a few select people who are not only very special but are also people that I totally dig. It’s not a cult. To be a member of my new club, the Jaye-Peg Collective, you to follow these two membership requirements: be a client and have had your photograph taken by me. So who wants to join?
It’s definitely not a cult.
The newest members to the Jaye-Peg Collective are Jack-Peg and Hannah-Peg, who eloped in the Lakes last week. Their just us wedding took place at one of my happy places, Briery Wood (Peg), and was also my first of 2026. So I was off to a fab start in the cold on a stupidly wet day in Ambleside/Windermere. It was so wet in fact that I suggested that we go into Ambleside to Waterhead instead of going to my go to for lakeside photos at Miller Ground. We still got wet.
A weekday in January meant that it was relatively quiet at Waterhead with very few people around. It’s much easier to get your couple’s lakeside photos when you don’t have to politely ask tourists to move down a jetty so you can capture a couple of photos. It is perfectly fine to be mean to anyone on a paddleboard, and I’m pretty sure there’s a local bylaw to that effect.
One of my favourite things to do with a newlywed couple when you’re walking through a town or village is to photograph them walking down the middle of the road. It’s very much a “Stop the fooking traffic! We just got married!” kind of vibe.
A huge congratulations to Jack and Hannah, and I hope you’re both having an awesome time in Munich. Their day wouldn’t have been possible without Christine and Lynn from Westmorland and Furness Council and Sarah and Ellie’s help at Briery Wood.
