The Cragwood Elopement Wedding of Ruth and Ralph
I do love a Lake District wedding at one of the ‘woods’ and quite often it’s the smaller, more intimate weddings that I enjoy the most.
“Why don’t you love a big Lake District wedding?” – I imagine you might ask. Well, I do. I have so much fun at larger weddings, but at the smaller and more intimate weddings, or elopements, I get so much more quality time with my couples. It’s just the couple and me (3rd wheeling) for well over an hour of exploring, having an adventure and thoroughly enjoying ourselves.
Ruth and Ralph’s day took place at Cragwood Country House (Briery and Mere are other “woods” that are also available). Where we were all very well looked after by Hannah and the Cragwood team. Their intimate wedding ceremony took place inside the library, which also happens to be my favourite space for a Cragwood Country House wedding. The light and the decor are just splendid, and there’s a cosiness that really adds a subtle warmth to the photos. I also had to give them both top marks for their choice of music with “It Had To Be You” playing as they walked in, one of my favourite songs.
After their wedding ceremony, Ruth, Ralph and I dodged the rain showers for a stroll around Cragwood’s beautiful grounds. Maybe it involved more running than walking, from one sheltered area to another. There was a fair bit of skipping too that was mostly down to just how excited Ruth and Ralph were to have finally got married! We were able to tick off many of my favourite Cragwood locations for photos. We even managed a boathouse photo even though it was looking a little submerged after some heavy rainfall! earlier in the week.
A huge congrats to Ruth and Ralph. I had so much fun that I’d honestly do it all again, and I would not change a thing! A huge thank you to Hannah and the team at Cragwood, the registrars from Westmorland and Furness Council and to Stem and Petal for the flowers.
