Couple kissing outside manor house by lake at a holesfoot wedding in cumbria

The Holesfoot Wedding of Clara and Steven

Imagine stepping into a fairytale woodland glade, where lush green fields stretch as far as the eye can see and the sunlight dances through the trees and onto your own private lake. Holesfoot is a magical place that was the backdrop for Clara and Steven’s wedding in late Spring. I had the incredible honor of photographing their special day at this gorgeous wedding venue. There were moments of love, laughter, and tears of joy throughout the most amazing of weddings.

I arrived at Holesfoot, having driven through the serene beauty of the Eden Valley. It is a stunning setting and you are always greeted by the beauty of Holesfoot House as you head down the long driveway towards the barn. Clara and Steven were preparing for their ceremony in the Italian Garden. This would be followed by a drinks reception in the Walled Garden and their wedding breakfast in the barn. The rustic charm and idyllic scenery blended seamlessly to create a picture-perfect setting for their wedding day and wedding photography.

I was joined on the day by my second photographer Kayley and throughout the day, we were drawn to all of the candid moments that unfolded from the happy couple and their wedding guests. The joy in Clara’s eyes as she and Steve said their vows were just some of the moments that truly encapsulated the love that they have for each other. We also had the most beautiful of golden hours for Clara and Steven’s couple photos, when we made use of the meadow behind the barn, the ivy growing on the walls around the property, the entrance to the majestic manor house and also the jetty over the pond at the very front of the property.

I was able to capture a couple of firsts for a Holesfoot wedding too which included two photos that have gone on to win awards from The Guild Of Photographers. The first is a group photograph of Clara, Steven and their guests in the walled garden and was shot on my drone. The second was of the happy couple on the jetty in front of Holesfoot House, beautifully reflected in the waterline.

My approach to wedding photography is to capture the essence of the day in a relaxed and informal way. As all of those special moments unfold before my eyes, the raw emotions and beautiful details, I like to capture those split seconds in time that make each wedding unique. From the intimate portraits of Clara and Steven against the stunning backdrop of Holesfoot to the playful shots of guests chatting and laughing, every image tells a story that will be treasured for years to come.

Being a Lake District wedding photographer has its perks, and Clara and Steven’s wedding was no exception. The picturesque surroundings of Cumbria always provide a perfect backdrop for a wedding. It was a day filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories, I got to work with some truly amazing suppliers, and I feel grateful to have been a part of it.

A huge congratulations once again to Clara and Steven, and my thanks to all of the wonderful guests and suppliers, for allowing me to be a part of your special day. When you get to spend a day in such an amazing setting with such a beautiful bunch of people, it really is the best job ever!
