The Gilpin Lake House Elopement of Kirsty and Paul

The beauty of the Lake District never fails to amaze me, and photographing the special days of couples in this stunning location really does make my job the best ever. Thinking back on Kirsty and Paul’s intimate elopement at Gilpin Lake House, I am reminded just how brilliant it is when everything comes together perfectly on a couple’s wedding day.

From the moment I arrived at the boat house for the ceremony, I could feel the love and excitement in the air. Kirsty and Paul’s connection was palpable, and it was an honour to document their vows to each other. I was also able to fly my drone over Knipe Tarn to add a unique perspective to their elopement photography, showcasing the stunning beauty of Gilpin Lake House that surrounded us.

As the afternoon was getting late and cold outside we retired to the living room for some seasonal portraits beside the cozy fireplace and Christmas decorations, which was a real highlight for me. The warmth and intimacy of the setting lent itself perfectly to capturing the love between Kirsty and Paul. I strive to create relaxed wedding portraits that capture the true essence of my couples, and I believe these photos truly encapsulate the love and joy that Kirsty and Paul share.

As my time with Kirsty and Paul came to a close, we ventured back outside for some fun twilight photographs. After setting up some off camera flash I gave Paul a bottle of champagne and asked him and Kirsty to have some fun, which made for some great photos of them spraying champagne and laughing together. It was just a little direction to create some great candid moments and is one of the things that make wedding photography so special to me. Capturing the genuine emotions and connections between couples is one of the best parts of my job as a photographer.

Being a Lake District Wedding Photographer has allowed me to document some of the most beautiful and intimate moments in a couple’s lives. It is a privilege and a joy to be able to capture these special moments and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Kirsty and Paul’s elopement at Gilpin Lake House was a day filled with love, laughter, and pure joy. I am grateful to have been a part of their special day and to have the opportunity to document their love story through my lens.

With thanks to the brilliant registrars from Westmoreland and Furness Registration Service, the awesome team at Gilpin Lake House and of course Kirsty and Paul. Congratulations guys and thank you for inviting me to be a part of your day.
