The Storrs Hall Micro Wedding of Fran and Simon

I recently found myself at Storrs Hall. I wasn’t on a spiritual retreat trying to find my inner child or anything; it’s long gone. I was actually at Storrs Hall for Fran and Simon’s wedding. To photograph it, that is. I don’t think I know them well enough to be invited as a wedding guest.

In a change to how hot and sunny it had been a few days earlier, it was rather aptly raining on and off, with the Lake District doing what it does best. Wet, windy and changeable. But as I always say, without the rain, we wouldn’t have the lakes or the utter gorgeousness of the Lake District. Regardless of the weather, Storrs Hall, with it’s gorgeous lakeside setting, is always a beautiful location to photograph a wedding.

Speaking of utter gorgeousness, Fran and Simon had their wedding in the Study, supported by their children Cherry, Hannah, Fraser, Libby and Lottie. I liked Lottie the best; I could be wrong, but I’m sure that she laughed the most at my daft jokes. After a beautifully intimate wedding ceremony, we made the most of the stunning rooms and decor inside Storrs Hall before braving the rain for a walk down to the Temple. If you don’t already know, the Temple is a stone jetty in the grounds of Storrs Hall with a stone structure on the end that looks like a temple, and hence the name. It’s a great area for wedding photos when you’re at Stirrs Hall.

I gave them all umbrellas to use, while I got wet(ish). We managed to dodge showers for a good while before rushing inside as a heavy downpour started. I definitely got wet then. However, just as I was packing my camera gear into the boot of my car for the drive home, the sun made an appearance. Technically I’d actually finished at this point, but with a camera to hand it was too good an opportunity to miss. So I rushed inside and dragged Fran and Simon off, interrupting their meal, for one last photo. It was so very worth it for some of the best photos of the afternoon.

A huge congratulations to Fran and Simon, and thank you for choosing me to be your Lake District Wedding Photographer. Thanks also to the team at Storrs Hall, the registrars from Westmorland and Furness Council, Quirky Petal for the flowers and Gemma from Hair For A Wedding for working her magic on the girls.
