Lodore Falls Hotel and Spa Micro Wedding of Sammy and Ricky | Wedding Photographer Keswick

Sammy and Ricky had originally booked a ‘Just the Two Of Us’ Lake District Elopement at Lodore Falls Hotel and Spa for January in 2021, choosing me to look after their Wedding Photography. Unfortunately a third lockdown in England because of the coronavirus pandemic meant that their plans had to change, and the wedding was rescheduled for May. As the country was emerging from months of uncertainty we couldn’t have had a better day for their Micro Wedding in the Borrowdale Valley. The rescheduling of the wedding allowed Sammy and Ricky to invite a few close family members. Sammy also asked me to take care of her wedding makeup, which I attended to before I started their photography.

Sammy’s bouquet was made from gorgeous dried flowers adding a rustic feel to a relaxed day in a stunning Lake District location. Lodore Falls Hotel and Spa sits below the Lodore Falls waterfall in the Borrowdale Valley, just a few miles south of the Lake District Town of Keswick & only a short walk away from Derwentwater. It is always a pleasure to visit here as a Lake District Wedding Photographer to photograph weddings big and small. You always know it is going to be a great day at Lodore Falls Hotel.

After such a long break following England’s third national lockdown it was great to be back photographing weddings again. I love to photograph people and it is a complete joy as a Lake District Wedding Photographer to capture all of those intimate and special moments during a wedding ceremony. Sammy and Ricky’s wedding ceremony was no exception and it was quite emotional to finally see them say their vows in the beautiful Lake District sunshine. After Sammy and Ricky’s wedding ceremony we stayed at Lodore Falls Hotel and Spa for some photos around the hotel. We then took the short hike up to the waterfall for some relaxed wedding portaits of the happy couple.

After taking some wedding photographs at the hotel we headed towards Keswick and stopped at Ashness Jetty on Derwentwater. This is where we got to be really creative with Sammy and Ricky’s wedding photography using natural light, off camera flash and drone photography. Afterwards we headed up to Surprise View for some wedding photographs that took in the beautiful Lake District landscape. From Surprise View you can see Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite Lake, Skiddaw and views across the Western Lake District Fells towards the Solway Firth. This all makes for a stunning backdrop to your Lake District Wedding Photography.
