The Lodore Falls Hotel Wedding of Clare and Keiren

Clare and Kieren made their promises to each other in the Borrowdale Valley at the legendary Lodore Falls Hotel. When I say legendary, I mean exactly that. If you have been before, then you will know exactly what I mean, and if not, why not?

Lodore Falls Hotel and Spa really is a beautiful place for a wedding, with the most amazing views over Derwentwater. It is a wedding photographer’s dream to work there. You are in one of the most beautiful parts of the Lake District, with so many options for wedding photos with the incredible backdrop that Lodore Falls and the Borrowdale Valley offer. I guess that’s why Clare and Kieren chose it for their wedding. That and it’s close to home for them, so a win win in my book

I have always said that the Lake District looks beautiful in all seasons. My favourite times of year are late spring and early autumn. May and September bookend the summer wedding season, and for me the season really begins in May. Even if it’s raining, May is a beautiful month for a Lake District wedding. I also firmly believe that even on the wettest of days there will be opportunities to get outside for photos, even if it’s a couple of minutes here and there. I’ll keep an eye on the forecast, and as soon as there is a break in the weather, you will probably hear me shouting, “confetti line, now!” Maybe not actual shouting, but you get what I mean.

So in between the rain and wind, we were still able to sneak outside for confetti photos while it was drizzling. Sometimes you have just got to go with it, and it’s the moment that makes the photos anyway. At least that’s what I said to one of the wedding guests who was feeling the chill a little.
The rain didn’t stop me getting some couple photos for Claire and Keiren. I don’t mind getting wet, and it’s better that your wedding photographer is being rained on than the bride and groom.

A huge thanks to the wedding team and staff at Lodore Falls for helping to make Clare and Kieren’s wedding brilliant from start to end, and also to the brilliant wedding suppliers who looked after them on the day.

Finally, there were no flying sheep at this wedding. I know I was disappointed too, but the ninja squirrels… well, that’s a story for another time!

A huge congratulations to the happy couple and a thousand thanks for inviting me to be a part of your day as your wedding photographer.

Kind Words from Clare and Kieren

“We found Jaye whilst looking for a local photographer for our Lake District wedding, and Jaye’s style was exactly what we were looking for: great candid shots of us and our guests having fun. Jaye was brilliant from the first contact, and this continued on the day where she put us and our guests at ease and got some amazing photos. She knew the location and recommended some great shots, despite the weather, and we are so pleased with the final result. I highly recommend Jaye if you are getting married in the Lakes.”
