The Broadoaks Country House Wedding of Sian and Danni
Is it bad to refer to a wedding as one of your favourite ever when every single wedding that I photograph quite quickly becomes one of my favourite ever weddings? Sian and Danni’s wedding at Broadoaks Country House is one of my favourite ever weddings, and not only was it one of my favourite Broadoaks weddings to photograph but also one of my favourite ever autumn weddings to photograph too. So I’ve no idea why it has taken me so long to write up a blog post to rave about how utterly brilliant it was to be Sian and Danni’s wedding photographer.
Let’s look at all of the things that they got right for their wedding day. First up is the venue, Broadoaks Country House Hotel, which gets a massive tick from me. My first ever wedding at Broadoaks was way back in 2013 when I still worked as a makeup artist. It’s always been a happy place for me and a home away from home, and anyone who chooses Broadoaks as their wedding venue is going to have an amazing day which makes me very excited to be there photographing.
Next up are the wedding guests that Sian and Danni chose to celebrate their day with. To use modern vernacular, the guests were ‘dope’ and helped make the day very ‘lit’ )I have no idea what these words mean, but I’m sure that I’ve heard teenagers use them). A wedding is always a beautiful celebration of two people coming together to celebrate their union and love for each other, and Sian and Danni chose the perfect group of people to share that with. It makes my job easier when people are having so much fun; the photos just take care of themselves.
Then we have the time of year, autumn. Officially the best time of year to have a wedding, according to an extensive survey that I held with myself. Some of the things that I love about autumnal weddings include bright days and dark nights; it can be temperate without being too hot or cold; the colours are just divine and add an incredibly rich lustre to the backdrop of your wedding photographs; and the light, particularly during golden hour, is exceptional. If you want hazy sunshine backlighting your wedding photos, then an autumn wedding is a must!
Finally Sian and Danni chose the best suppliers, the most brilliant suppliers, and some absolutely wonderful humans, which also included me as their wedding photographer. I know! I was as surprised as anyone else! From the moment they first got in touch with me, we just hit it off and came to the conclusion that we were cut from the same cloth. The decor provided by Purple Swan was perfect for the two of them, the venue and the time of year. Wedding cake perfection was provided by Love At First Bite by Amber, and they also booked one of the best wedding bands I have ever worked with. Honestly, if you’re looking for live music, you need to look at the Hustle Band, who are simply just fantastic!
A huge congratulations to SIan and Danni and thank you for you choosing me to be your wedding photographer at Broadoaks Country House Hotel. It really was one of the best days ever, which Sian and Danni perfectly summed up for me before I left them to their evening celebrations:
“You made us feel at ease with your terrible jokes and okay camera skills.”
Sian and Danni’s day wouldn’t have been possible without all of the hard work from the team at Broadoaks, the registrars from Westmorland and Furness Council and these brilliant suppliers –
• Venue – Broadoaks Country House Hotel
• Decor and Styling – Purple Swan
• Wedding Cake – Love at First Bite bu Amber
