The Broadoaks Country House Wedding of Sophie and Abbi
I get lucky with my clients. I get very lucky. Abbi and Sophie (or Abs and Jinks, as I think I was calling them both by the end of the day) are absolutely no exception. I heart them both, very much so, but not in a third-wheeling kind of way. At least I think not. I also get lucky with my wedding venues, and it’s always a pleasure to be back at Broadoaks Country House to photograph a wedding there.
What I don’t get lucky with is the weather when I photograph weddings at Broadoaks Country House. I totally heart Broadoaks too; it’s one of my happy places, but I haven’t photographed an outdoor ceremony there for nearly two and a half years. That’s right, May 2023 was the last time this cheeky little wedding photographer had a wedding ceremony outside on the lawn in front of the wedding gazebo at Braodoaks. I thought my luck was in on Abbi and Sophie’s wedding day, until it started raining 5 minutes before the ceremony was due to start. Cue everyone rushing everything inside for an indoor ceremony in the Orangery instead. We tried really hard to be outside; everyone was awesome at trying to get it all organised, but it wasn’t to be. In all honesty I think that it was me that was the bad luck on the day, and I’m so sorry.
However, Abbi and Sophie’s wedding was just one of the best! Regardless of the last-minute change to the ceremony location. Abbi and Sophie’s day was incredible. It was one of those days where I completely forgot to capture any behind-the-scenes content because I was having too much fun to even think about it! We also had the most amazing afternoon and evening outside in the sunshine, even with all of the drama around the ceremony, once the rain had passed, the rest of the day was just beautiful.
The hugest of congratulations to Abs and Sophie, you are both perfect, and your day was brilliant in so many wonderful ways. Thank you so much for asking me to be your wedding photographer, for trusting me to photograph all of those precious moments, all of the fun and laughter, and all of the joyous celebrations.
Final thoughts – do book me for your wedding photography at Broadoaks Country House Hotel. I might not be able to guarantee that the sun is shining at the right time but what I will promise is that I will bring everything to help make your day as wonderful as Abbi and Sophie’s wedding was.
Abbi and Sophie’s day wouldn’t have been possible without all of the hard work from Mikey and the team at Broadoaks, the quick thinking of the registrars from Westmorland and Furness Council and these brilliant suppliers –
• Venue – Broadoaks Country House Hotel
• Singer – Katie Keeling
• Magician – Daniel Maze
• DJ – Dancing In The Dark
• Photography – Me!
and a huge thanks also to Peter Nelson for the craic, laughs and being a brilliant second photographer.
