The Lake District Marquee Wedding of Sarah and Ewan
I have a confession to make, I regularly fall in love with my clients. Like properly head over heels “I love you guys!” fall in love. Sarah and Ewan are no exception. I totally dig these guys.
(Yes, I have no idea what totally digging someone means but I’m assuming it’s metaphorical and expresses a level of “aww, you guys!” that’s perfectly okay and not at all inappropriate.)
Sarah and Ewan totally DIY’d their wedding, making use of their gorgeous property near Tebay, a neighbour’s ridiculously amazing garden and a marquee. It was one of those wedding photography enquiries that when you learn a little about what the plans are, you practically beg the couple to let you photograph their wedding. I must have promised lots of fun and entertainment, which I duly delivered when I fell into the beck (small river) that runs through the property, spending most of the afternoon barefoot and standing on nettles. Not something I would recommend but I still managed to capture some great photographs for Sarah and Ewan. I’m sure it is already becoming a story that the two of them and their guests are already telling people about the barefooted wedding photographer.
Sarah and Ewan’s day was supported by some utterly amazing suppliers that were a joy to work with. From Sarah’s morning with her bridal party at Applegarth Villa Hotel in Windermere to navigating the rocks of the waterfall at The Waterfall Retreat in the evening, it was the most amazing day with some truly brilliant people to work alongside.
It was a dream wedding for any wedding photographer to be at, in a beautifully secluded location on the edge of the Lake District National Park. Best of all I didn’t get anyone’s name wrong, and managed to get through the whole day without calling the groom Ethan. I didn’t do it at all on their engagement photoshoot earlier in the year and definitely didn’t do it on their wedding day. Honest.
A huge congratulations to the happy couple and a thousand thanks for inviting me to be a part of your day.
