The Lancrigg Wedding of Natalie and Andrew

The newest members of the Jaye-Peg Collective, which is definitely not a cult, are Natalie-Peg and Andy-Peg. They got hitched* at Lancrigg-Peg in Grasmere. on a Spring day that was more wintery than Spring-like (yes we really did have hailstones at one point!). If you’ve never been to Lancrigg you really should go for a look and to explore the hotel and grounds. Maybe not for Natalie and Andy’s wedding. Not unless you have a TARDIS, but even then it’s probably best to not go back in time to try and attend their wedding if you weren’t invited.

I was invited to Natalie and Andrew’s wedding in the sense that they paid me for my time to take photos. It’s how I earn a living, photographing weddings. Which is why you’ll see me refer to myself as a Lake District Wedding Photographer through my website.. To be honest it was such a brilliant Lancrigg wedding that I would quite happily have done it for free** but don’t tell Natalie and Andy that, I’ve already spent the money they paid me on utility bills and Scooby Snacks for the dog.

Grasmere is one of my favourite places in the Lake District, and Lancrigg is one of my favourite venues for a wedding. It’s in a gem of a location at the the foot of Helm Cragg in the Easedale Valley and the views across the valley are just stunning.. I’ve been photographing weddings there since 2019 and it’s always great to catch-up with Simon and the team. You’re very much made to feel like part of the family in what feels like your own home. It’s like snuggling up on a sofa to watch your favourite movie with an added plethora of local wildlife and sheep.

Natalie and Andy’s day was just like that too, a huge comfort blanket of happiness and fun set against the most beautiful of backdrops in the Lake District. We definitely didn’t see a TARDIS though, not unless it had morphed into something that looked absolutely nothing at all like a blue Police Box. What we did see were everyone at the wedding having a brilliant time. From the laugh out loud confetti throw followed by the guard of honour, to the jokes and reminiscing throughout the wedding reception. It may not have been the best of days weather wise but even so we were still able to spend time outside for Natalie and Andrews couple photos. All in all it was the best of days and I’d love to do it again! if only I could find the keys to that old TARDIS in the garden…

* anyone else feel a bit mentally let down with themselves when using the term “got hitched” or is it just me? There are so many more eloquent and verbose ways to celebrate a couples nuptials than “they got hitched.” I mean, you’d think I was uneducated never went to skull!!

** yes I have in the past but it’s a family (and friends) only discount 😉
