The Lindeth Howe Elopement Wedding of Helen and Phillip

Lindeth Howe can be found a mile or so south of Bowness-on-Windermere in the Lake District. As you head down a long private driveway, Lindeth Howe sits atop the most beautifully appointed grounds and makes for a stunning location for a wedding. (I should be a tour guide writing sentences like that, don’t you think?!)

Anyway, about Lindeth Howe. Did you know that back in the day it was owned by none other than Beatrix Potter herself? The best Potter in the literary world, without a doubt. The hotel’s logo even features Beatrix Potter’s handwriting, and you can still find many echoes of the Potter family throughout the hotel to this day. For me, the best thing about Lindeth Howe is that it is an utterly brilliant wedding venue, and I guess that’s why Helen and Phillip chose it for their elopement wedding earlier this year.

Through all of the nervous tears and laughter, Helen and Phillip were so incredibly excited to say their vows and get married. Supported by John and Liz from the Lideth Howe wedding team and Jo and Sean from Westmorland and Furness Registration Service, the wedding ceremony was just beautiful. There wasn’t a dry eye. and have you tried photography a wedding ceremony when you can’t see properly through the tears? No, me neither. Honest. I must have had something in my eye. Afterwards, Helen and Phillip didn’t want to rush around for photos, so we allowed for plenty of time for some photographs at Lindeth Howe before heading off to Windermere for some lakeside photos.

Miller Ground is a great location for lakeside wedding photos on a busy wedding day. With easy access to the lake from the roadside, we took a short walk down through the woods past Wynlass Beck to the shore of Windermere. There we were able to spend time on Helen and Phillip’s wedding photos. We even had a number of flypasts from the RAF, who must have been on exercises in the area that day. Don’t ask me what type of plane though, as far as I’m aware it was a big metal flying thing that made a lot of noise. Trying to get the plane, or fighter jet (who knows?) into a photo with Helen and Phillip was another challenge entirely.

After all of the lakeside fun at Windermere, we went back to Lindeth Howe to finish off with a few more photos at the hotel. Making use of the swinging bench and the gorgeous fireplace in the bar. All in all it was a great afternoon with the happy couple at a superb wedding venue in the heart of the Lake District on the most gorgeous of days. It’s days like this that make being a wedding photographer the best job ever! The amount of time that I get with my elopement couples affords us so many opportunities for a great variety of photos. I also get to have some fun with me new best friends for the day.
